Elements and Principles of Design
|
When designing or thinking about fashion images, we always
utilise the elements and principles of design. Using tumblr, flickr, magazines or your own
pictures and websites, find pictures of fashion, landscapes or architecture
which you can use to create two design boards focusing on the elements and
principles of design. The boards will be collages of images that represents
these ideas. One board will highlight a principle and the other will have an
element. Clearly outline which one you are using with a heading and add a brief description of it on the page.
The board must be upload on Flipsnack edu so that everyone in the class is able to see and show how they interpret the elements and principles of design. The next lesson after they are due we will discuss what we have found throughout the process. Boards can be made using cutting and pasting with magazines and pictures or done on the computer with web pictures. If done physically the board also must be uploaded to the Flipsnack edu website, either scanned or photographed.

Application of Textiles

When creating accessory item there are many application techniques
that come into play some of these techniques are used in conjunction with others.
Using the applications of design you are to create two design ideas that will
be suitable accessories for modern day. Through previous experience with application
of design and use of initial resources such as tumblr, pintrest you are to
create three mood boards which will be uploaded to our Flipsnack edu page. To
be used as a process dairy for the entire project that will be marked in stages.
Within each page there will be:
-Design idea and description of both functional (what will the end use be eg broach, head band, a bag tag necklace etc.) and aesthetic functions( what it looks like eg colure, shape, size, pattern etc.)
-Material used
-Uses of design applications such as: dying, appliqué, printing, beading and embroidery.
Once the design phases is complete and a single design is chosen, we will begin the process of making this accessory as a prototype in class for final assessment.
